- Juventud Guerrera was on the "In You Head" Radio show last week. He is working in AAA with Waltman and he said that Waltman had tried to commit suicide and was then placed in rehab. The story out of Mexico is that Waltman tried to hang himself in his apartment sometime over the last two-weeks. He was found by his girlfriend Alicia Webb (the former Ryan Shamrock in WWE) when she showed up to the apartment. Waltman had turned purple, with broken blood vessels in his face and eyes by the time she found him. Waltman had been telling people how much he was enjoying wrestling for AAA because the crowds made him love wrestling like when he was a kid and that he was free of the politics of the business like in WWE and TNA. Waltman also had personal issues, including major depression and not being allowed to see his children.
- Waltman told the "The Pro Wrestling Torch" that the story wasn't true and that he had a bad reaction from mixing alcohol and anti-depressants.
- In the last week Kevin Nash flew to Texas to help check Waltman into a rehab facility for both rehab and psychiatric care. Nash had contacted HHH about WWE covering the financial costs of the rehab, which is the new policy offered to all former contracted talent, and then helped Waltman physically check into the facility. Kevin Nash was also very big part of Scott Hall checking into rehab recently.
- Other issues from the attempted suicide/accidental overdose is that Alicia Webb has a child, with another man, and the father found out that Waltman had entered rehab and went onto MYSPACE and started begging people to bring his child home. This has made Webb paranoid about going on the road with AAA without Waltman around, as she now fears that someone will try to abduct the child.
- Some feel that this may be a warning sign for AAA to begin drug testing. Several of AAA's biggest stars have been sent to rehab for either drugs or alcohol over the past year. Drug usage in Mexico is wild, but unlike the US there are not the number of overdose deaths. The top stars in Mexico work insane schedules, but they have less mental stress than the top stars in the US. Also the drugs that are favorites by the wrestlers in Mexico don't appear to be as lethal as the ones being used by the wrestlers in the US. There is steroid use, but due to Lucha being more about style and movement the huge dosages that lead to long-term health issues and muscle tears tend to be limited.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. -- Nearly eight months after the deaths, Fayette County investigators are releasing details of their report into Chris Benoit's suicide and the murders of his wife and son. The sheriff is not commenting on the findings but the bottom line is they do not believe anyone else besides Benoit, his wife and son were in his home at the time of the deaths. While there is still no answer on why Chris Benoit murdered his family and took his own life, investigators are convinced that he acted on his own. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office released a brief summary of a six-month investigation into the tragedy at Benoit's Fayetteville home. It says, "After careful examination of all evidence collected by investigators, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office concludes that between Friday, June 22, 2007 and Sunday, June 24, 2007, Christopher Benoit took the lives of his wife, Nancy, and their son, Daniel, before ending his own life." The summary goes on to say, "During the investigation, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office found no evidence that indicates the presence of any other individual or individuals who contributed to the deaths of the three members of the Benoit family." Experts hired by Chris Benoit's father concluded that repeated concussions from his wrestling career severely damaged his brain but there is still no official ruling that this condition triggered his rampage. While the criminal investigation is wrapped up, the litigation over the Benoit estate continues. And the Professional Wrestling Organization, WWE, rejected a $2 million settlement offer on behalf of Benoit's children from a prior marriage. Since it was rejected, the next step could be a lawsuit. OVW no longer a WWE territory... WWE sent out the following press release today. WWE® To Cease Affiliation With Ohio Valley Wrestling STAMFORD, Conn., February 7, 2008 – World Wrestling Entertainment® announced today that Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) will no longer be affiliated with World Wrestling Entertainment as an official developmental territory, making Florida Championship Wrestling™ (FCW™) WWE's official development training facility for talent around the globe. "Ohio Valley Wrestling has been a tremendous partner with World Wrestling Entertainment through the years, and we thank them for their work in developing many of today's WWE Superstars," said John Laurinaitis, Senior Vice President of Talent Relations. "We look forward to Florida Championship Wrestling playing host to the next generation of WWE Superstars recruited from around the world." Last November, WWE announced the formation of Florida Championship Wrestling, a new training center for future WWE Superstars. The facility has four wrestling rings and approximately 35 contracted athletes, with plans to increase that number to more than 70 in the near future. The facility is now fully operational, as WWE undertook large-scale renovations to FCW in order to accommodate its training needs. The finished training facility is more than 10,000 square feet, including an arena that will seat nearly 300 fans. The new training facility will also host a weekly show in front of a live audience, to be broadcast for regional television. FCW is owned and operated by Steve Keirn, a former professional wrestler and producer for WWE. WWE trainer Tom Prichard oversees all talent training at the facility. Credit: 411mania.com |
