The Pinfall Recall Hiatus Project
Hey Everyone!
I’m sure you’ve all noticed that we’ve been strangely silent over the past several weeks. It’s just been one giant ball of conflict we’ve simply been unable to avoid. Lots of big life stuff going on here in Pinfall Recall land, what with Milo prepping to start college, Ed returning for what must be his 35th year of college, Josh getting a massive promotion (to the point that he makes way more than me despite having never actually graduating from college), and me working my ass off so that I can eventually afford to send my children to college. Suffice it to say we’ve all found ourselves a bit overwhelmed.
Combine all that with the current state of Monday Night Raw, and we’ve all decided that we need a breather.
So with that being said, we are officially on hiatus and off the air for the next several weeks. But don’t despair! We are returning, and we have a hard date set for that return.
So let us have our month off, and come back on Tuesday, September 22nd, for our first Rawcast back. You bring your ears and we’ll bring the fire!
See you all soon!
Cliff and the rest of the Pinfall Recall Team!

Engine Trouble on the Road to WrestleMania
It happens every year. The screen fades to black over the winner of the Royal Rumble pointing up to the WrestleMania logo and we kick off the high-energy, fast-paced, intrigue-laden push toward the biggest stage of them all. Its one of the most exciting times for wrestling fans, to watch as the stories for the last couple months really kick into overdrive and the weekly shows are just more exciting. 3 months of shows where you can’t wait to see the next one, and each week is more exciting than the next, all leading to 4 hours of glorious pay-off. So why the hell am I so bored this year?
Typically, the Road to WrestleMania is paved with some of the best TV of the year. No matter how bad WWE TV has gotten, things have picked up around this time of year, and the shows have sucked me back in. But i just don’t feel that pull this year, and I’m left wondering why. With 10 weeks between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, WWE has had more than enough time to build up compelling content leading up to the big show. It was certainly off to a great start, what with the kickoff of the Randy Orton vs the McMahon’s, and Jericho’s attacks on the Legends. We had Edge sneaking in a World Heavyweight title win, and HHH starting a very angry feud with Orton. Things were looking good for some intriguing TV and some solid matches. But then something seemed to fall apart.
Orton and HHH are dry and predictable. Orton has been cutting some of the best promos of his career, and HHH is as angry as he has ever been, yet the actual story progression for the last few weeks has been bland and unexciting. Jericho finds himself in a match against 3 legends, yet none of those 3 legends are what we were hoping for after the potential for a match with Mickie Rourke or possibly Stone Cold. The Money in the Bank match is shaping up to be the worst one we’ve seen, and to be honest, the idea already seems old and used up to me, simply because of how they are booking it. Edge, Big Show, and Cena are stuck having yet another Vickie Guererro love angle hanging over their match, which considering Vickie’s physical appearance and grating personality, makes even less sense to me than Mark Henry and Mae Young giving birth to a hand. None of the main event’s and high-level bouts aside from The Undertaker vs HBK have grabbed my interest at all, and to make matters worse, we’ve been stuck with Vickie on not one show each week, but two. All of these factors are contributing to the most boring Wrestlemania buildup we’ve seen in years.
So I’m left to ask what the hell is going on. This just isn’t like WWE. What has consistently been fun for years, has felt like a drop in quality over the past several months of improved booking. It’s true, there are still 2 weeks to turn things around, and I’m certain the creative team has flown into overdrive with the big show so close and ratings dropping. If anyone knows how to pull out all of the stops in a pinch, its Vince McMahon. But if change is coming, it had better start tonight, because the grandest stage of them all is right around the corner, and the Road to WrestleMania just hasn’t been much fun to drive this year.
