The Pinfall Recall Hiatus Project

Hey Everyone!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed that we’ve been strangely silent over the past several weeks. It’s just been one giant ball of conflict we’ve simply been unable to avoid. Lots of big life stuff going on here in Pinfall Recall land, what with Milo prepping to start college, Ed returning for what must be his 35th year of college, Josh getting a massive promotion (to the point that he makes way more than me despite having never actually graduating from college), and me working my ass off so that I can eventually afford to send my children to college. Suffice it to say we’ve all found ourselves a bit overwhelmed.

Combine all that with the current state of Monday Night Raw, and we’ve all decided that we need a breather.

So with that being said, we are officially on hiatus and off the air for the next several weeks. But don’t despair! We are returning, and we have a hard date set for that return.

So let us have our month off, and come back on Tuesday, September 22nd, for our first Rawcast back. You bring your ears and we’ll bring the fire!

See you all soon!

Cliff and the rest of the Pinfall Recall Team!

News Digest Delay

I just wanted to let everyone know that due to extreme busy-ness by everyone on the team, we were forced to let the Wrestling News Digests for Wednesday and Thursday slip by. Milo should have things back up and running for the weekend though, so thanks for bearing with us.

Comeback? Sure!

I’m back, and better than ever. Got a knack, for making things better.

Hello and welcome to somewhat of a rebirth here in the Pinfall Recall World. Yes friends that’s right, I, Andrew Kearney, am back and better than ever. I feel the timing for this couldn’t be better and I can say that I’m extremely excited to start this new chapter in the book of Pinfall Recall. It’s been at least two years since I was a fully active member of this great team but I can only see that as being to our advantage as we look to progress and carry on the excellent work demonstrated by the existing team members. We’re all a couple years older and a couple years wiser since I was last around…quite whether the wrestling industry as a whole has progressed in that time I’m not too sure but I’ll sure as hell enjoy talking about it here with you all. I also just wanted to send out a public thank you to RDB, Milo, Ed, and of course CK and JG for making this return possible. Now I want you all to kick back and just relax as you jump back into the trip known as Andrew Kearney…or AK…or Kearney…well you get the idea.

The purpose of this little piece is to give you all an insight into my views of the current state of professional wrestling. Now I’ll be honest with you all, my finger had certainly slipped way off the pulse over the last two years of absenteeism but since about ‘Mania this year, I’ve been getting back into the swing of things. As hard as I try though it is definitely still a case of as and when I can with regards to the actual watching of the shows. I mean I do try and catch Raw every week, the same with SmackDown also and for some reason, unknown to me or anyone else, I rarely miss an episode of TNA iMPACT. So I definitely do try to keep on top of things but it certainly does take a pretty dedicated loser to watch every single piece of weekly televised wrestling.

I don’t watch TNA week in week out because I think it’s such an awesome way to spend two hours each week. I think it’s definitely more a case of sheer bewilderment and curiosity that keeps on drawing me back in. I just wanted to make that point perfectly clear before we delve any deeper. Quite simply, the list of things wrong with TNA is longer than my arm and longer than I’m willing to discuss at this moment but the biggest problem that I have with the product is that far too much of it just doesn’t make sense and the reasons to actually care about what’s going on are so few and far between.

In terms of WWE I think there are signs of a decent product in there from time to time, particularly on the SmackDown brand in my opinion. But even then you can spend a couple hours watching Raw or SmackDown and still wonder what happened come the end of the show. I also may have made a fairly large mistake recently as over the last few weeks I’ve been watching my entire anthology of every WWE Raw from 1999 and that really has fuelled even greater cynicism and dismay at the current product. But as I said, from time to time I’m pleasantly surprised and satisfied after watching a WWE show, a lot more than was the case a couple of years ago at least.

But at the end of the day, there’s plenty for me to talk about and I sincerely hope you all enjoy jumping on the back of Pinfall Recall’s own British Invasion.

As has been stated on the forum and the most recent podcast, I am really aiming to add a lot of content to the blog in the form of columns, articles and other fun filled features. So please stay tuned to that the website and the forums for all of my upcoming Pinfall Recalling…and you may also want to keep an ear out for a certain British voice on an upcoming podcast…just sayin’.

I am most definitely back ladies and gentleman and you will unquestionably be seeing a lot more of all over the Pinfall Recall Universe!

Raw and Smackdown ratings, WWE lowers ticket prices

 - The February 27th episode of Smackdown scored a 2.3 rating, so along with Raw, Smackdown is also slipping in the ratings right now.

- The 3/16 edition of Monday Night Raw saw World Wrestling Entertainment’s recent ratings drop continue as the show did just a 3.6 cable rating. That is down from last week’s 3.7 and also from the 4s that they were doing as the build for WrestleMania began.

- WWE is lowering their lowest ticket prices down to $20-$25 for live events in order to counteract the recession.

Read JG’s Column on 411Mania.com: Ask 411 Music

Hey everyone!

JG here, and I wanted to do a little cross promotion, since I promote PFRC over there, I feel it’s only right to push some readers their way as well.

I write a column for 411mania.com called “Ask 411 Music”.  I love to do this and it’s a great opportunity to read some e-mail, answer some questions, and have a good time.  I would love to have our Pinfall Recall fans and listeners e-mail me questions to answer in my column.  Try to make them music related, and if you want to tie music and wrestling together, I’ll accept that too.  In order to send me questions all you’ll have to do is click here.

Read this week’s edition of my column: Ask 411 Music: Nativa American, Ludacris, and John Lennon - Reader Mail, Bribes, Assassinations, Oh My!

Also, we at PFRC depend highly on 411Mania’s Wrestling Zone’s news to bring you the best digest format news on the internet.
Keep tuned in so you can always be listening to “The Best Wrestling You’ve Ever Heard”.

The First Official Pinfall Recall Contest!

Hey PFRCers!

We had our biggest forum month since January 07 last month, and we love you all for it!  So as promised, I am announcing the First Official Pinfall Recall Contest!  This is the first real contest of any kind that Pinfall Recall has put on, so we are excited about it.

You are all probably interested in the Prize.  And so are we, because we are excited about it!  But we’ll get there after I announce the rules and terms of the contest

Like I said… Sept was our biggest forum month since January 2007, with almost 800 posts.  But we have no interest in stopping there.  We aren’t just interested in the biggest month ever.  We want to have our biggest month ever!  So far our biggest month held almost 2500 new posts, and to get there, we need even more activity!  So, this contest is based around the forums.

We want more members, so this contest is a rush to get more members, and here is how to win.

Starting now, the contest will run for 1 month, until 8pm est on Nov 2nd, 2008.

Within that time frame, the first person to get 5 people to sign up for the forums will win the prize.  However, we don’t just want anyone to show up, so there is a post requirement as well.  Each of the 5 people that signs up has to make 10 relevant posts on the forum…  Relevant means contributing to the conversation with thoughts, not just saying “yup” or “lol” or “I agree”.

How will we track all this?  We’ve made it easy for you!

First, when a new member signs up, we will message them and ask them for the name of the forum member who referred them.  JG and I will be keeping that list.  From that moment on, we will keep an eye on those new members’ post counts, and when they hit 10, they will get checked off on the list as a completed new member!

There are a couple extra points worth mentioning.  If you are an existing forum member, you only need to get 4 people to sign up.  Why?  Because we will be allowing new members who sign up in this period to compete in this contest as well, and we will allow their sign-up for the forum as their first one.  Since you forum members are already signed up, we are taking one off for you.

Also, if you refer a member, and that new member refers someone, that person will be added on the lists of both competitors.  Thats only fair.  So if you sign 2 people up, and they each bring one person in, you will get credit for all four of those referrals, and you will have hit the prize limit.  And like I said, you don’t have to keep track, we (and our software) will be doing that for you.

What else?… Oh… THE PRIZE!!!

The first person to hit that limit (and we think its an easy one to hit) will win a brand new Pinfall Recall T-shirt!!! (pictures coming soon)  These are so new, that even JG and I don’t have ours in our hands yet.  So you will be the first to get one of these pieces of official PFRC Merch!  The winner will also get a DVD of the COMPLETE collected works of Pinfall Recall.  Every Podcast, in higher quality audio than was posted online!

But THERE’S MORE!

I think 5 people with 10 posts each is pretty easy to hit, so I’m offering a 2nd Tier of the competition.  If more than one member passes the prize point with new members and posts, the prize will go up, assuming the 2nd level of requirements is hit.  Whats the limit there?  10 new members, 10 posts each. And the first person to get there will get a Pinfall Recall Hoodie, and these things are bad-ass too.  Much like the T-shirt, even JG and I don’t have ours yet.  This prize will also include the DVD of the COMPLETE collected works of Pinfall Recall.  And if someone captures this prize, the next person to get to the 5 new members, 10 posts each, will get the t-shirt and DVD.

Any Questions?  Respond here and ask em!

Ready?  Let’s get some new members!  May the best PFRCer win!

Pinfall Recall Forum Facelift

Ladies and gentlemen,

Just in case you only check on the blog and you’re not around or not registered on the forums, I wanted to say two things:

1) Register for the forums.  They can be found at http://www.pinfallrecall.com/smf/  If you’re too lazy to copy and paste, you can either click the “Pinfall Recall Forums” link above on this page or just Click Here

Even if you don’t have time to post, we would appreciate knowing who you all are, and that you’re all able to read the crazy fun shit that happens on the forums.  If you just don’t want to go through the pain of registering, please comment here and we’ll get in touch with you and maybe register you so you don’t have to.

2) The forums will be down for scheduled maintenance from 10pm - 11pm EST this evening (Saturday, September 6, 2008).  I will be revamping the structure of the boards and will also be paying much more attention to the boards as we move forward into the new era of PFRC.  Post Post Post if you’re on the forums.  You don’t have to, but if everyone starts 1 new topic a week… we can actually get some good discussion and good traffic.

Please comment here if you have any questions about the forums esp if you’re not currently registered. (more…)
