Big Indy star backstage at Raw
- Current IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Low Ki was backstage at the three hour Monday Night Raw taping in Tampa, Florida.
- The first ROH champion, Ki is also a former TNA X-Division champion. The word going around is that he’s in for a tryout.
Ki regularly appeared on WWF programming on the syndicated Jakked and Metal shows during the early part of the decade when Kevin Kelly, who was a big fan of his work, was in charge of bringing in prospective talent to the company.

WWE and Kimbo, Funaki and Steamboat, WWE international touring success
- With Elite XC folding, Kimbo Slice’s name was recently brought up by at least one WWE writer. Vince McMahon had no real reaction to Slice’s name. It doesn’t appear that anyone has brought up Gina Carano’s name.
Funaki is currently working with Ricky Steamboat on improving his ring work with the new “Kung Fu Naki” gimmick.
In international touring news, the four shows WWE had in Mexico City last week did a combined $2.5 million, while the three shows in Puerto Rico did $1.2 million combined.

Divas News and Tidbits, WWE pushing 800th Raw through advertising
- Former WWE Women’s champ Trish Stratus was recently spotted at the 17th annual Bell Gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Center to help raise money for the Sick Kids Foundation.
- WWE has been doing a lot of advertising for tonight’s RAW special which is celebrating the show’s 800th episode. Management is hoping that they will be able to draw back casual and former fans tonight, and bounce back from the poor 2.9 rating that the show did the last two weeks.
ProWrestling.net is reporting that former WWE & ECW talent Dawn Marie is pregnant again with her second child. She is due in June. Dawn gave birth to her first son, Matthew, on December 20, 2005.

TNA fires agents, talent could be next
- Bill Behrens of WZ.com reported yesterday that Glenn Gilbertti and Pat Kenney had been released as road agents from TNA. In an update to the story, Jason Powell of Prowrestling.net has reported that talent roster cuts may be imminent as TNA has roughly 60 wrestlers signed to deals with only 2 hours of television time per week.
I spoke to a source this morning close to the situation who has confirmed the reports that talent cuts may indeed be approaching. The reason is entirely budgetary, as the source I spoke with said that Jeff Jarrett generally dislikes firing talent who are on good terms with the company. The source informed me that Glenn Gilbertti’s release was actually something that Glenn had seen coming for about 6-8 weeks, but that the real surprise was Pat Kenney’s release. Both releases were made at the request of Dixie Carter, and again they were entirely made due to cost cutting measures.
